We’ve just ended our second week into the italki World Cup Language Challenge and now it’s time for me share with you my progress in Catalan so far. I’ve taken approximately 6 lessons with Catalan teachers and I feel like my Catalan has already improved since I’ve started doing lessons! That’s a good sign right? Especially since I’m officially moving house today! I still need to fit that third lesson in so I can complete the challenge. I’ve already taken 2 sessions with a Catalan teacher today while giving a trial Swedish lesson between sessions!
I would have to say being able to read a short news article from El Punt Avui would be a good start. Preferably, something that keeps my interest while not being too difficult at the same time. While searching through the blog section I found this article: Game of Thrones 4×08: The Mountain and The Viper and thought it would be a great article to read on camera since it’s about a TV series I’m currently interested in and short enough to not be too intimidating to read. I end up only reading the first paragraph because I wanted to keep it at 3:00 or less if I could. I’ll probably make a longer one when I’m closer to finishing the challenge.
What Will be My Challenge For This Week?
Moving all my things into the new place while I get settled into my new place. It will probably be something for me to discuss in Catalan that’s simple or read something and give my opinion on it.
For those of you participating in the italki World Cup Language Challenge: How are you doing so far? Did your 3 lessons for this week? Are you behind? Ahead? I’ve love to hear how you’re doing in the challenge too.
