It’s finally time for another weekly update with my participation in the italki language challenge. I must say this week has been unbelievably busy for me that I wasn’t able to schedule lessons with a tutor yet. Hopefully, this will give me a chance to finally test out instant tutoring for the first time! While I cannot disclose the explicit details as to why I was so busy, I can tell you that I did switch from part-time to full-time at my current job.
This also means that my availability to students will not be as open as it used to be. However, I will update my availability based on time I have off from work. The good news is that I get to tutor two students this Sunday. Which means that if they’re participating in the italki challenge, I’m furthering their progress as well! If I can get at least 3 sessions with a tutor between tonight and tomorrow, I will be able to catch up.
I am still learning kanji through the 小学生手書き漢字ドリル and 中学生書き取り編 apps through my smartphone. I have also started playing (and I know this is going to sound incredibly nerdy but) I started playing Pokémon Crystal and Pokémon Emerald in Japanese to keep me motivated. The only pitfall with these versions of Pokémon is that there are no kanji in it whatsoever. So you really can’t learn any new kanji per se but you can entertain yourself and perhaps learn certain phrases that may become useful later on.
In the meantime, how is everyone else’s progress coming along? Are you behind like me or closer to reaching the 20 lesson target? If you have completed 13-14 lessons already then you are right on track for this week.
